Fenstermaker’s Advanced Technologies Division uses high definition laser scanners, precision total stations, and powerful modeling and point cloud software to provide comprehensive, as-built surveys, intelligent 3D CAD models and detailed 2D isometric spool drawings. 

High Definition Survey (HDS) is rapidly becoming an industry standard for both small and large-scale projects. Historically, the cost involved with laser surveys were very high, therefore the technology was used only on larger projects. But today, advancements in hardware, software, and workflows have made HDS a viable option for projects of all sizes. HDS allows surveyors to collect vast amounts of detailed data quickly. Here’s how it works: A narrow beam of pulsed laser moves across the target recording millions of measurements in minutes. These scanned measurements are then displayed on a computer screen in the form of a point cloud which closely resembles a 3D model.  With millimeter accuracy, multiple scan locations are combined by targeted workflows designed to create 3D point clouds capable of generating a host of services. Virtual walkthroughs, interference detection, TruViews, containment analysis, 3d modeling, demolition plans, critical move planning, quantity takeoff, inventory management, vessel deformation analysis and spool drawings just to name a few.
